MAKNA - National Cancer Council

Although I have been supporting MAKNA for more than a year now, I didn't personally know anyone who was actually benefiting from it until my mom told me about little Aiman. My mom first met Aiman when she and her friends visited the paediatric ward in a hospital in Kota Kinabalu. She was told that Aiman had been receiving RM700 monthly from MAKNA to pay for his medication and treatment. The funds meant a lot to the family as they were financially tight. And that's MAKNA's philosophy, " ... that the poor cancer patients should have access to the best available treatment."

So if you wish to do some good deeds this month, start by donating to MAKNA.

Al-Fatihah

With a heavy and sad heart I write this post. Little Rayyan, who was suffering from leukemia, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Thursday of June the twelfth. He would have turned three in October. It was only the Saturday before that we went to see him and how he was having a wonderful afternoon watching his favourite show tom tom bak and doing some colouring in the Little Einsteins book we got him. That image will forever be in my mind. Rayyan, you will be greatly missed and we love you. Al-Fatihah.

This post is also dedicated to little Aiman, a boy I have never met and only knew through stories from my mother. He too had leukemia. He passed on two weeks after his third birthday on February the seventeenth earlier this year. Al-Fatihah.

They were both much loved and they knew it.

Please pray for little Rayyan

I received this heart-breaking message from a dear friend of mine concerning her little superhero, Rayyan who is suffering from leukemia:

"Just to keep you posted that Rayyan is not doing too well. We were told on Tues that they found a rare gene in his blood and that chemo would probably not save him. Doc advised us to let him go peacefully rather than try diff types of chemo to reduce the cancer cells. We brought him home but as he had high fever & was very weak, we brought him back in. On Friday, Doc told us that it's spreading vigorously. Of course all lives are in Allah's hands, but statistically, she feels he won't even last a month. So she sent us home again & taught us how to use painkillers at home.
We're trying to make the best out of the situation. Having as much fun as he can take. We're also seeking alternative treatment, including traditional. Still hoping for the best!"

I believe miracles do happen. Let's all pray for Rayyan's recovery...
