Mystery Birthday Party

My 9 year old daughter is so into spies, detectives and mysteries. So we decided to have that theme for her birthday celebration this year. The invitations came in folders with the party details. At the beginning of the party, each child received a detective kit consists of a magnifying glass, a note book ( I had 'top secret' printed on white paper and made this the cover ) and a pencil. These were used in the games where they had to decipher codes, read facts in minuscule fonts and test their concentration in the memory game. After completing the training and being awarded 'junior detective' badges, the kids had to solve the mystery in the form of a treasure hunt.

It was a lot of work but was all worth it.

Teacher's Day Gift Part 2

We were going to bake chocolate chip cookies for the teachers but just as I turned on the oven, the electricity tripped. Scrapped the baking idea and had to make do with store bought biscuits. I printed " You're 'Tea'rrific! " on yellow paper and re-labelled the tea bag tags. Repackaged the biscuits, and put everything into a white paper bag. Personalised each paper medallion by stamping each teacher's initial. I think they turned out nice. Hope the teachers like them. To all teachers, thank you for the hard work and Happy Teacher's Day!

I was driving when I saw the car's outside air temperature indicator showing 36 degrees celcius ( about 96.8 degrees fahrenheit )! I'm not sure how accurate the detector is but we could really feel the extreme heat.

This is a scary fact but the earth and the climate are changing. What can we do to help the planet? For one, you could join Earth Hour. The goal of Earth Hour is to inspire the world to act together to help fight climate change. 92 countries are taking part so no matter where you are in the world, at 8.30pm, Saturday 27th March 2010, 'turn off your lights, celebrate the planet, enjoy the moment and think about the future of our living planet'.

I like everything she designs. The first and fourth labels are my favourites. My daughter complains of never receiving any mail except for the kids newsletter from MPH bookstore. Nadia's 8th Birthday Party

We had an adventurous celebration at Camp5. We booked a 60-minute fun-filled try-climbing programme. It was a first time climbing experience for all the kids.

The party favors were coordinated in the colour yellow. I packaged chalk and chocolates and labeled them CLIMBING CHALK and ROCK CHOCOLATE. This idea I got from design mom. I bought mineral water from Tesco and printed YOU ROCK on the labels. The party bag I decided to make myself using brown paper. It cost me RM3.50 to make 20 bags! A lot of savings there. With all the goodies in the bag including Milo packet drink and Cheezels, I stapled and glued the bag with a THANK YOU FOR COMING note.

Everyone had such a great time that no one wanted to go home when the party ended.

Typography and chalkboards. Like this combination. I know just a place where these mini chalkboards can go in our home. To DIY may be a bit of a problem as I haven't found any shops that sell chalkboard paint. Perhaps you know of a place?

How manly are these stainless steel letterform? Unfortunately they do not have my hubby's initials.

I mentioned about Domino the Book of Decorating before so when it landed at Kinokuniya, I got myself a copy. I was even more thrilled to find a free year subscription to its monthly issue for US addresses. The next thing to do was to contact my good friend in Texas and asked if I could use her home address. I then mailed her the subscription postcard. The day she received and mailed the postcard to the magazine was the day I heard Domino is folding. Oh to get over-excited over nothing. I was so looking forward to the subscription! March will be their final issue. If I could get hold of that copy, I'd be happy.
